The NFL has announced its Pro Bowl selections, with the Philadelphia Eagles landing six spots, placing them third behind the Baltimore Ravens (nine) and Detroit Lions (seven).
Saquon Barkley, Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Jalen Carter and Zack Baun all got the honor for Philadelphia.
Not everyone made the cut, though. A.J. Brown and Jordan Mailata were named first alternates on offense, while Josh Sweat and Quinyon Mitchell are waiting in the wings on defense.
Among these, Mailata’s absence from the main roster stands out.
However, his reaction to the perceived snub was level-headed.
“That’s out of my control,” Mailata said, via Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP Sports Radio. “But I will say this: It’s not something that I prioritize or look forward to. … And another thing is, I know when I look back from where I was last year to where I am this year, I know I’m on the right path.”

Mailata’s impact this season speaks for itself.
He was instrumental in Saquon Barkley’s historic 2,005-yard rushing season, helping him become just the ninth running back in NFL history to surpass the milestone.
But here’s the thing: The Pro Bowl isn’t what it used to be. It’s now a skills competition and flag football exhibition where offensive linemen barely see action.
No wonder Mailata isn’t losing sleep over not being chosen.
