Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James made some postgame comments recently hinting that the end of the road could be near and that he might hang up his sneakers after another year or two, also mentioning that he doesn’t necessarily want to stick around until the wheels fall off.
He has been in the NBA so long that it’s easy to forget that even he is mortal, but one analyst recently revealed why he will be happy when James retires.
“I’ll be happy when LeBron bows out because he stayed too long. When you play a long time, people get tired of talking about you,” Rob Parker said, via FOX Sports Radio.

From a guy who has shared plenty of ridiculous takes over the years, this might be at the top of the list.
There are plenty of athletes who stuck around too long and clearly became shells of their former selves, but you can’t say James has played too long when, in his 22nd season, he is averaging an incredibly efficient 24.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 9.4 assists per game.
It’s also tough to accept that the media has grown tired of talking about him when he continues to be the first topic of discussion at all times, and having Bronny James with the Lakers has only given the media even more chances to talk about him.
During a time when NBA ratings are declining, LeBron James is still the box-office draw that is guaranteed to generate attention from sports talk shows that need it.
LeBron James won’t be around on the court much longer, and everyone needs to appreciate what they’re watching while they still have the opportunity to do so.
