Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker is in the midst of having the worst season of his career by far, as he has already missed a career-high eight field goal attempts as well as two extra points after having missed just five over the first 12 seasons of his career.
It has been tough to watch the most automatic kicker in NFL history struggle like Tucker has this year, but one former kicker has a theory on what is wrong with him.
On Friday, Jay Feely spoke on “The Ross Tucker Podcast” and said, “Justin Tucker is dealing with failure for the first time in his career.”

Feely joked that he missed a lot in his career, so he knew how to deal with failure, but this is the first time Tucker has been missing, saying, “He has never dealt with failure. He has had this invincible shield around him his entire career from college to the NFL, and he’s been able to not worry about missing. He’s super aggressive through the ball and he’s confident when he’s kicking the ball and he’s never doubting his form.”
He said this is more of a mental challenge for Tucker than anything, which makes sense since Tucker seems fine physically and still has his customary power, but he is missing left and right and not looking anything like the guy he had been over his first 12 years.
Baltimore isn’t giving up on Tucker, and it’s going to need him down the stretch and in the playoffs if the Ravens have any chance of winning a Super Bowl.
