The New York Jets don’t have a general manager or a head coach.
Notably, one guy with plenty of experience doing both had an interest in their position.
A recent report by Dianna Russini of The Athletic claimed that Bill Belichick was interested in their head coaching job.
That’s why it didn’t take long before a clip from earlier in the season of Belichick calling out team owner Woody Johnson went viral.
Belichick really called the Jets organization looking for a job after this.
“The owner being the owner…ready, fire, aim”

During an appearance with Eli and Payton Manning on the “ManningCast,” Belichick took a shot at Johnson for firing HC Robert Saleh midway through the season.
Of course, this wasn’t the only time that Belichick either took a shot at the Jets or flat-out tormented them.
He controversially resigned from his head coaching position shortly after accepting it, and the team later traded his rights to the New England Patriots.
The rest, as you may know by now, is history.
It would’ve been odd and ironic to see the very same team he mocked and beat for so long to be the one to salvage his NFL career.
The fans would’ve gladly looked the other way if that meant getting the team in contention.
The owner, however, might not feel the same way.
It seemed that more and more doors were closing on Belichick every day, so he had no choice but to take UNC’s job and go to college if he wanted to be a head coach again.
