The Miami Heat are once again the talk of the NBA due to the drama surrounding Jimmy Butler, who was suspended for seven games due to conduct detrimental to the team.
The conduct in question is likely related to his public comments about being unhappy and pushing for a trade while also putting forth lackluster effort during games recently.
The situation has drawn the attention of former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce, who wondered why star players would look to play for the Heat.
“The players see what’s going on with all Miami superstars, so why would another superstar player go to Miami if this is how they all get treated with no respect, after what they have done for the franchise?” Pierce wrote on X.

That’s certainly a take from someone who retired with the Los Angeles Clippers, and the replies to Pierce’s tweet mostly disagreed with him.
Superstars have consistently chosen to go to Miami due to the organization’s stability and consistency, which has been implemented by Pat Riley, who always reinforces the notion that nobody is bigger than the team.
That mentality is the reason why the Heat won two NBA championships after LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined forces with Dwyane Wade and James reportedly pushed for the team to fire Erik Spoelstra. He was overruled by Riley and told to find a way for everyone to get along.
Butler also has a track record of messy departures, which has happened with all three of the previous NBA teams he has played for, so this is an odd take for Pierce to have, even though it can be seen as admirable that he is defending a fellow player.
