The Miami Dolphins’ playoff hopes crumbled on Sunday when they needed two wins to secure a postseason berth.
The Kansas City Chiefs got demolished by the Denver Broncos 38-0, and the Dolphins couldn’t handle the New York Jets, falling 32-20.
The disappointing finish left Miami at 8-9, but the team is already looking ahead to 2025.
Moving quickly into offseason mode, the Dolphins announced on Tuesday the signing of 12 players to future contracts.
All these players finished the 2024 season on Miami’s practice squad and will remain with the team through the offseason.
The signings include wide receiver Tarik Black, a trio of linebackers in William Bradley-King, Dequan Jackson, and Derrick McLendon, along with safety Jordan Colbert and defensive tackle Neil Farrell.

The offensive additions feature linemen Ryan Hayes and Chasen Hines, cornerbacks Isaiah Johnson and Jason Maitre, tackle Bayron Matos, and tight end Hayden Rucci.
Among this group, Hayes stands out as the only player originally drafted by the Dolphins, selected in the seventh round of the 2023 draft.
These reserve/future contracts serve as a strategic tool for NFL teams.
They allow organizations to lock in players at minimum salary without affecting the current salary cap or roster limits.
The impact of these deals won’t hit the books until the new league year begins, when rosters expand to 90 players in March.
For the Dolphins, these moves represent their first steps toward building a stronger roster for 2025, keeping promising talent in their system while navigating the league’s roster management rules effectively.
