The Washington Commanders’ offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has emerged as one of the NFL’s most intriguing coaching prospects, thanks to his impressive work developing rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and transforming the Commanders into an offensive powerhouse.
His unique blend of college and professional experience, including his recent stint working with Caleb Williams at USC in 2023, has only added to his appeal.
After missing out on head coaching opportunities last season, Kingsbury took the reins as offensive coordinator in Washington, where he’s helped mold the Commanders into a top-five scoring offense.
This success hasn’t gone unnoticed, with several NFL teams now eyeing him for their head coaching vacancies.
NFL insider Josina Anderson recently the broke news about Kingsbury’s rising stock in the coaching market.
“I’m told at least 4 teams have expressed interest in talking with #Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury about their head coach vacancy, per league source,” Anderson reported on X.

She followed up with additional insight:
“I’ve also heard some league sources are trying to fully ascertain how much Kingsbury really wants to be a head coach this cycle with more time to reflect, given his current circumstances in Washington.”
While the specific teams interested in Kingsbury remain under wraps, his name has been consistently tied to one particular opening.
Kingsbury himself has expressed openness to returning to a head coaching role “at some point,” though the timing of such a move remains uncertain.
He might opt to build on his current success in Washington for another year before taking that leap.
Kingsbury’s reputation as an offensive innovator continues to grow, particularly after his work with Daniels and the Commanders this season.
