The San Francisco 49ers’ season has not gone according to plan.
Despite being in the Super Bowl last year and being the betting favorites to win it all this season, the 49ers have faltered and are likely out of the playoff race.
One of the reasons for the team’s shortcomings is the play of Brock Purdy, who has taken a step back in production after shocking the league during his first two seasons.
He is well aware of his shortcomings, as he mentioned in a recent press conference, and wants to get better in 2025 and beyond.
“There were some plays this season that I’d love to have back, and I wish I could have been better for my team and for myself, but at the same time, there’s been some growth in my game that has happened,” Purdy said.
Brock Purdy gave an assessment on his season:

While the season hasn’t been great, Purdy understands where he has fallen short.
This kind of mentality and a drive to get better is what can make him better in the future, even though it doesn’t fix things right now.
The 49ers have unfortunately dug a hole that’s too deep for them to get out of, but they might find a bigger shovel next year, so to speak.
Purdy’s supporting cast has struggled with injuries all season, which has made it hard to get into a rhythm and flow throughout the year.
With any luck, everyone will be back on their feet in 2025, and this team will regain their standing as one of the best in the NFC.
