Quarterback Deshaun Watson’s time with the Cleveland Browns has been disappointing, and now it has gotten worse.
According to an official statement from the team, Watson, who tore his Achilles in Week 7, had been experiencing some discomfort in the same ankle, and it is now known that he tore the tendon again.
“MRI results demonstrated a re-rupture to his Achilles tendon. … Watson’s recovery time and return to play status is uncertain, and he will likely miss significant time during the 2025 season,” the statement read, via NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Since being traded to the Browns in 2022, Watson has played in just 19 games over three years.
Whether it has been due to suspension or major injury, he has not been on the field.
It gets even tougher for the Browns when you think about the large guaranteed contract the QB was given.
Now, the future of the position is even more up in the air in Cleveland and it is hard to say where the franchise will go from here.
Could the Browns sign or trade for a potential bridge quarterback such as Kirk Cousins to hold the line until they find a future long-term starter?
The good news for Browns fans is that they are led by two-time NFL Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski.
Assuming they can find a talented prospect, perhaps with the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, a steady veteran, or both, Stefanski can likely help keep things afloat for the time being.
