Not too many people expected the Los Angeles Chargers to make the playoffs in Jim Harbaugh’s first season as their head coach, but that is where they find themselves.
Even better, by virtue of finishing with the fifth seed in the AFC, they have a somewhat favorable matchup in the wild-card round against the Houston Texans.
Leading up to the game, the Chargers announced several roster moves.
“We’ve activated CB Eli Apple [and] WR Simi Fehoko from reserve/injured [and] other roster moves,” the Chargers wrote on X.

They also put defensive back Ja’Sir Taylor on reserve/injured while elevating safety Eddie Jackson and running back Jaret Patterson from the practice squad.
After years of mediocrity and frustration, the Chargers hired Harbaugh after he led the University of Michigan to the national championship.
Los Angeles may have roster holes on paper, but Harbaugh got them to become the NFL’s top-ranked scoring defense, and that unit has driven them all season long.
They also enjoyed a strong season from rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey, who caught 82 passes for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Texans are short-handed without injured wide receivers Tank Dell and Stefon Diggs, and the Chargers are the betting favorite despite being on the road.
A win by Los Angeles would further reinforce the notion that this is a new day for the franchise and perhaps all the bad fortune it has experienced for many years is finally behind it.
