The Indianapolis Colts will again be watching the playoffs from home after going 8-9 this season.
Colts general manager Chris Ballard recently held his end-of-the-season press conference and spoke about some of the team’s issues.
One of those issues was the play of young quarterback Anthony Richardson.
“We knew when we took him it was going to be a roller coaster. … The No. 1 thing we have to figure out and have to work through is he’s got to stay healthy. That, to me, is the biggest question,” Ballard said, via Stephen Holder of ESPN.

Richardson has played in just 15 combined games in his first two seasons, and the Colts are 8-7 with him as the starter.
But that sample size simply isn’t big enough to judge how good a player he can be.
In his 11 games this season, he completed just 47.7 percent of his passes and threw 12 interceptions while recording eight passing touchdowns.
Yes, he is a very talented player who can throw the ball far and run over people if he so chooses.
However, if he wants to put himself in harm’s way as a runner, he is risking his career trajectory from a health and coaching perspective.
If the Colts want to reach heights they haven’t seen in a long time, it will come down to the growth of their quarterback, which will be based very much on his health.
