The Miami Dolphins are hanging on by a thread in the AFC playoff race as they need several things to break their way in order to make it.
Not only do the Dolphins need to win out the rest of the way, but they need the Denver Broncos to lose their remaining two games and for the Indianapolis Colts to lose at least one more game.
While those stipulations aren’t far-fetched, it doesn’t give Miami any room for error the rest of the way.
However, given the state of their opponent’s roster, their Week 17 matchup against the Cleveland Browns should be a game they can win.
Unfortunately, the Dolphins likely need to do it without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who is doubtful due to a hip injury.
Ahead of the game, Miami made a series of roster moves.
“We have signed WR Erik Ezukanma to the active roster off the practice squad and placed CB Kendall Fuller on the injured reserve list. We have also elevated CB Nik Needham and QB Skylar Thompson to the active roster,” the Dolphins wrote on X.

The most notable name on the list is Thompson, who has filled in for Tagovailoa in the past.
If Tagovailoa is unable to go, Tyler Huntley would start and Thompson would be the backup.
Miami should be able to defeat Cleveland no matter who is under center as the Dolphins have the more talented team and something left to play for.
