As the Dallas Cowboys struggled through a miserable season that has ended with them missing the playoffs, there has been speculation for months that head coach Mike McCarthy’s job may be in jeopardy.
No decision has been made by management on whether McCarthy will be back for the 2025 season, and his coaching contract will end on Jan. 14.
Interestingly, per Nick Harris, McCarthy’s entire staff is now free to sign with other teams, and in the meantime, owner Jerry Jones has been meeting with McCarthy, which is a positive sign as far as his fate with the team.
As we await a decision on Mike McCarthy, his entire coaching staff is now free to sign with other teams.
McCarthy and Jerry Jones have continued to meet in last 48 hours to discuss the parameters of a potential return.

McCarthy, a longtime NFL head coach who guided the Green Bay Packers to a Super Bowl championship in the 2010 season, has been at the helm of the Cowboys since the 2020 season.
During that time, the Cowboys have had plenty of star power, but they have won just one playoff game during that time.
This proud franchise boasts five Vince Lombardi Trophies, but it hasn’t gotten to the Super Bowl or even the NFC Championship Game since the 1995 season, yet expectations have still been very high in recent years.
This season, Dallas had to go to war with a top-heavy roster, and once quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury, their chances of merely making the playoffs were clearly doomed.
Whether McCarthy or someone else will be leading them from the sidelines next season, their roster clearly needs plenty of work if they are to experience a return to glory.
