To say that this has been a tough season for the Jacksonville Jaguars would be a huge understatement.
Doug Pederson’s team was projected to be one of the best in the AFC South, but that hasn’t been the case.
They haven’t been able to bounce back from the tough 2023 season, and their chances of making the playoffs seem quite slim right now.
To make things even worse, their franchise player could be looking at a long layoff.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Trevor Lawrence’s injury could be more serious than initially thought.
#Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence is out today and his immediate future is uncertain as he deals with a significant AC joint sprain, sources say. Some players have had surgery with the same injury. Today, Mac Jones starts.

The former No. 1 pick is set to miss his first game of the season, with Mac Jones taking control of the offense in the game vs. the Minnesota Vikings.
Apparently, Lawrence is dealing with a “significant A.C. joint sprain” in his left shoulder.
While that’s not his throwing shoulder, this ailment can reportedly make throwing and functioning difficult.
Rapoport adds that surgery is possible for Lawrence, although the team will have him get some rest and rehab before making that decision.
He’s currently labeled as day-to-day, but Rapoport states it would be more accurate to deem him week-to-week.
Rapoport also reports that some players decide to play through this for the remainder of their careers.
The Jaguars committed a lot of money to Lawrence in the offseason, but he hasn’t been the player most scouts thought he’d be so far.
Flashes of greatness aside, he has failed to take that leap forward.
With Jones looking to get his career back on track, the quarterback competition could be on.
