The Dallas Cowboys are coming off perhaps their best win of the season, with Mike McCarthy’s squad getting the best of Jayden Daniels and the division-rival Washington Commanders, which was one of the biggest upsets of Week 12.
Even though the win over the Commanders was impressive, the Cowboys are still heading in the wrong direction moving forward, with the expectation being that Dallas will likely struggle the rest of the way during the 2024 NFL season and miss the NFL playoffs.
Along with more than likely missing the postseason, the Cowboys will have a lot of areas to be addressed during the offseason, especially at quarterback and head coach.
It appears that former Cowboys head coach and football legend Jimmy Johnson thinks that Dallas made a mistake by signing Prescott to a new contract.
“I would never have given Prescott a new contract. I’d have let him play it out… They’re so financially strapped right now. I don’t know what they do,” Johnson said.

With the Cowboys struggling even before Prescott went down with a season-ending hamstring injury, Dallas was questioned about the move to sign the veteran quarterback to an extension, and that noise will likely get louder once the season is over.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Cowboys do during the offseason if they choose to address the quarterback problem in Dallas and if McCarthy has earned the opportunity to sign a contract extension or head to the open market.
