When the season began, a lot of people thought the Brooklyn Nets would be a team with one goal: tanking.
But they have been performing better than expected and look like a fun, scrappy team.
That is partly because of Nic Claxton, who is averaging 8.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
Sadly, the Nets will be without Claxton for at least a week.
Erik Slater is reporting that Claxton has been diagnosed with a lower back strain and is scheduled to receive an epidural injection on Friday.
He will miss Friday’s game against the New York Knicks and his status will be updated in one week.

This isn’t Claxton’s first injury.
The Nets worked him back into the rotation after hamstring soreness early this season and he finally played more than 30 minutes just this week.
Luckily for the Nets, Dorian Finney-Smith is available for Friday’s game against the Knicks after missing the last two games because of ankle problems.
Ben Simmons is also not on the injury report after sitting out a game because of calf tightness.
Claxton played against the Boston Celtics earlier this week and produced just three points, five rebounds, and two assists, shooting 1-of-3 from the field.
Claxton admitted that he wasn’t feeling terrific during the game, setting the stage for his absence.
The 25-year-old star signed a four-year, $97 million contract in the summer and was seen as someone who will take on a bigger role on the team this season.
Sadly, injuries have gotten in the way of making those plans a reality.
