The Los Angeles Lakers have been without one of their most important players all season, but that may be on the verge of changing.
On Friday morning, Dave McMenamin reported that Jarred Vanderbilt had been assigned to the G-League South Bay Lakers.
But shortly after practicing with South Bay, he was then recalled from the team, meaning he was available for the Los Angeles Lakers’ 11 AM practice session too.
This is all a very positive sign that suggests Vanderbilt could be with his Lakers in a short amount of time.
What does this mean for LA?

In short, this is all great news for the Lakers, who have desperately missed what Vanderbilt can bring to the team.
Last season, he averaged 5.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
He is known for his fearsome defensive skills and his ability to shut down opponents of any size.
For a team that has been having defense problems all season, Vanderbilt could be a major boost for LA.
This is his third season with the Lakers but he has only played in 55 games for the team since joining in 2022-23.
During that time, he has become a fan favorite even though he has been hurt often.
When will Vanderbilt come back and what can he bring to the team?
And will he stick around for long?
Since the trade deadline is coming up, some fans wonder if the Lakers will send Vanderbilt away now that he’s healthy.
He could have a few good games for LA and then be packaged in a deal that brings the team another A-lister or big man.
But maybe he will prove that he’s exactly what the Lakers need now and will remain in Los Angeles for the rest of the season and beyond.
He is almost ready to return, and all eyes will be on Vanderbilt and what he can do for LA.
