Najee Harris Reveals Honest Thoughts On Becoming Free Agent

The Pittsburgh Steelers may be headed to the NFL playoffs but they could look somewhat different next season.

Running back Najee Harris will become a free agent after the conclusion of the playoffs, and for some players, that could be a distraction as their team looks to go as far as possible in the postseason.

But Harris remains focused, and recently addressed his uncertain future.

“Shoot, man, this is a business. … I’ve been put in situations where you just gotta make the best of your opportunity, you know what I mean. Whatever that is, it is,” Harris said, via Mike DeFabo of The Athletic.

The Steelers ranked second in rushing attempts during the regular season, and Harris combined with Jaylen Warren to give them a one-two punch in the backfield.

Harris, who is in his fourth pro season, ran for 1,043 yards and six touchdowns, the fourth time in as many seasons he eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark.

Pittsburgh will take on the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round of the playoffs, and Harris will have to overcome a defense that was ranked first in rushing yards allowed and yards per rushing attempt allowed.

Months ago, Pittsburgh didn’t pick up the fifth-year option on Harris’ rookie contract, which created the situation he’s in right now.

There have been rumors that the Dallas Cowboys, who have one of the NFL’s weakest running games, will try to sign Harris, but for now, he will put his efforts into helping Pittsburgh make some noise in the playoffs.
