Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson stands at the doorstep of NFL history, poised to become the youngest player to claim a third MVP award.
That acceptance speech might need polishing sooner rather than later, especially after the All-Pro team placed Jackson firmly in the driver’s seat.
Jackson dominated that voting with 30 first-place votes, leaving Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills on the second team with 18 votes.
However, Jackson has had little success in the playoffs, leading one analyst to compare him to another multiple MVP winner and All-Pro who took a while to get over the postseason hump.
“I think it’s actually kind of perfect, because, as I’ve said the last few weeks, I will say again, the quarterback whose career Lamar reminds me of is Peyton Manning,” Nick Wright said on “First Things First.” “And nobody makes the comp because black guy, white guy, statuesque pocket passer, the most athletic, mobile quarterback we’ve ever seen, but a guy who, year after year after year put up unbelievable regular seasons, and we’ll see if it changes for Lamar.”

Wright’s comparison might raise eyebrows given their contrasting styles, but the parallel makes sense when looking at their career paths.
Like Manning, Jackson has built a reputation for dominating regular seasons, though playoff success has proven more elusive.
While Jackson’s postseason story is still being written, his Manning-like consistency suggests we might be witnessing the career of another NFL great.
Victories over the coming weeks could cement Jackson’s place among NFL royalty, as his remarkable regular season positions him for another historic achievement in his already impressive career.
