No one can question Pat Riley’s place in NBA history, but some feel it is time for him to step away from the Miami Heat after years of being the team’s president.
However, a recent interview suggests that Riley is very happy to stay put and keep doing his job.
Speaking on the “Dan Le Batard Show,” via Complex Sports, Riley addressed claims that he is “washed up” and needs to retire.
“Maybe I should go somewhere and just put my feet up,” Riley said.
He then added that if he did step down from his job, he would simply become obsessed with something else.
He also said he doesn’t pay attention to any of the criticisms about him, especially on social media.
So, it sounds like Riley doesn’t care what people say, and it definitely sounds like he isn’t leaving.

Riley touched upon the other teams in the Eastern Conference who are giving the Heat a hard time, such as the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.
He knows the competition is tough, but he still believes in his team.
Riley said he doesn’t worry about what the critics say and instead stays focused on doing the most for the Heat.
This approach has worked very well for Riley and Miami over the years, leading to multiple championships and many appearances in the playoffs.
But some fans are frustrated with the state of the team.
They feel the Heat will always be middling unless they do something drastic soon.
Some of these people are calling on Riley to retire and let someone else take over control of the Heat, but he sounds determined to stay in his role.
Riley is currently dealing with the Jimmy Butler situation, and it’s clear that fans will have big opinions about how that ends.
So, Riley isn’t done hearing people calling on him to resign.
