The San Francisco 49ers are navigating a challenging offseason after a disappointing 6-11 campaign, a stark contrast to their NFC Championship run last year.
Among their pressing decisions, Brock Purdy’s contract situation stands at the forefront.
Their quarterback, who has delivered consistent play on a rookie contract for three years, is now extension-eligible heading into his final year.
While a payday seems long overdue, the 49ers’ struggles in 2024 raise questions about whether they’ll commit top-dollar to their signal-caller.
General Manager John Lynch, however, isn’t beating around the bush about Purdy’s future with the franchise.
Speaking at a Wednesday press conference alongside head coach Kyle Shanahan, Lynch openly embraced the idea of securing Purdy long-term this offseason.
“What we know about Brock is that he’s our guy,” Lynch stated firmly. “We have interest in Brock being around here for a long, long time. He’s done so much for our organization. He’s won big games.”

Lynch acknowledged the organization’s struggles throughout 2024 but highlighted Purdy’s unwavering presence during the turbulent season.
Despite the team’s inconsistencies and setbacks, Purdy remained steady, showcasing his leadership skills and resilience.
Lynch’s endorsement made it clear – Purdy is central to their future plans, and they’re committed to building around him.
Looking at the numbers, Purdy’s 2024 season showed some decline, posting 3,864 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and completing 65.9% of his passes.
These figures mark a step back from his remarkable 2023 campaign, where he topped the league in crucial categories like touchdown percentage and yards per pass attempt.
Yet, despite the San Francisco 49ers’ overall struggles this year, the front office appears unfazed by Purdy’s statistical dip.
